Wenchang Temple

The Wenchang Temple in Xinzhuang is dedicated to Wenchang Dijun. Ciyou Temple began enshrining Wenchang Dijun during its renovation in the 7th year of the Yongzheng reign (1729 AD). In the 18th year of the Jiaqing reign (1813 AD), Cao Rulin, the Xinzhuang County Assistant Magistrate, donated funds to build the Wenchang Temple to the right rear of Ciyou Temple. Subsequently, in the 1st year of the Guangxu reign (1875 AD), Chuan Duanquan, the Bangka County Assistant Magistrate, and gentry member Chen Shizhang, among others, relocated it to its current site.
