Built in 1822, Yinshan Temple is the most completely preserved "Dingguang Buddha Temple" in Taiwan. Dingguang Buddha is a local deity worshipped by Hakka immigrants from Tingzhou in western Fujian, and was introduced to Taiwan with these immigrants. In the past, Tingzhou immigrants collectively raised funds to purchase land and construct this temple to enshrine Dingguang Ancient Buddha, their patron deity from their hometown. It also served as an assembly hall to care for fellow Tingzhou natives.
