Originally Dihua Public School, established in 1898. In 1909, due to the construction of Taipingcho-dori (now Yanping North Road), the school campus was divided into two. The east campus became Dihua First Public School (now Taiping Elementary School), and the west campus is now Yongle Elementary School. Taiping Elementary School also boasts many famous alumni, such as artists Huang Tu-shui and Yang San-lang, and renowned entrepreneur Koo Chen-fu. After the 228 Incident broke out in 1947, Taiping Elementary School was used as a detention center for arrested individuals.
