International Bookstore (Former Site)

After studying at Shanghai University, Hsieh Hsueh-hung went to Moscow for further studies. Following instructions from the Comintern, she returned to Taiwan to develop organizations. To cover her activities, she decided to operate a bookstore while also introducing communist ideology. The International Bookstore was founded in 1929, primarily selling left-wing books and publications, and also serving as a secret liaison point for the left-wing Taiwanese Communist Party. During the February 28th Incident, the International Bookstore played an important communication channel for the Taiwanese Communist Party, having direct or indirect ties with the 27th Brigade and related revolutionary groups.
