Military Police 4th Regiment (Former Site)

During the 228 Incident, the 4th Military Police Regiment was responsible for pacification and clearing operations in the northern region. They also collaborated with other units to "sweep" through the Keelung urban area. After martial law was declared on March 10, the 4th Military Police Regiment was tasked with pacification and clearing operations north of Hsinchu. Its commander, Major General Zhang Muta, also served as the commander of the Northern Pacification Zone. The original site of the 4th Military Police Regiment was initially the Hongji Hospital, founded by Dr. Lin Qingyue. Later, it was taken over by the Taiwan Governor-General's Office to establish the Gengsheng Institute, which served as a treatment facility for the rehabilitation and housing of opium addicts and drug-addicted patients. After the war, following its relocation, the 4th Military Police Regiment moved into the site.
