Chi Li Art

What does "ten years" mean as a concept of time? If calculated in days, it's 3,650 days. If in hours, it's 87,600 hours. And if in minutes, it's 5,256,000 minutes. This is an enormous numerical concept, and Chi Li Art has precisely traversed this long decade. Looking back, with a sincere and multi-faceted business philosophy and attitude, it has broadened its artistic vision. These ten years also represent the steadfast realization of a gallery's ideals and, naturally, the fruits of its persistence. Chi Li Art is located in a quiet alley on Daan Road in Taipei. The gallery's spatial flow creates a diverse contemporary art atmosphere. It has curated hundreds of classic art exhibitions, covering categories from two-dimensional ink painting and other forms of painting to three-dimensional sculpture. Chi Li Art extends themes with its curatorial concepts, planning exhibitions for different types and categories of art. Importantly, in addition to hosting solo and joint exhibitions for renowned artists, it also curates joint exhibitions for new ink artists, responding to current global trends in Eastern ink art, striving to express and reflect the cultural context of contemporary Taiwanese ink art. These new generation young artists showcase forms of expression that are not confined by traditional brushwork and composition, revealing new perspectives on ink art different from the past. For example, in 2014, it hosted "Taiwanese Ink, Korean Ink: Two Facets of Contemporary Ink Art" at Chi Li Art in Taipei. In 2015, it assisted the Seoul National University Museum of Art in Korea in hosting "Macro and Micro: The Phenomenon of Korean and Taiwanese Ink Painting." In the field of abstract art, in 2015, it curated "Alternative Abstraction, Cold and Hot Intersecting Zone ~ Exhibition of Abstract Art from Taiwan and Korea." By inviting Moon Jung-hee, a principal researcher at the Korea National Institute of Fine Arts, to curate, it brought together important contemporary ink and abstract artists from both Taiwan and Korea for a joint exhibition. The curatorial motive was to explore the different manifestations of contemporary ink and abstract art in Taiwan and Korea under varying national characteristics and internal creative drives. It also hoped to use this opportunity to deepen cultural and artistic exchanges between Taiwanese and Korean artists and scholars, foster interaction among galleries, artists, and collectors, stimulate the art market and collection, and create a more vibrant art ecosystem. Ten years of operating philosophy have allowed Chi Li Art to grow and thrive, moving towards academic, contemporary, and international directions.
