Guandu Waterfront Park

The name Guandu comes from the Spanish word "Casidor," but due to the Japanese pronunciation omitting the "S," it became today's "Guandu." In ancient times, Guandu was a sulfur production and export center. In 1895, it served as a military fortress with artillery batteries and was also once struck by a meteorite; suspected meteorite remnants are still preserved within the Cihchiang Branch of Guandu Elementary School. Guandu Waterfront Park covers a vast area, featuring walking trails and bicycle paths. Guandu Wharf is also one of the boarding points for the "Blue Highway," with four routes heading to Dadaocheng Wharf in Taipei, Tamsui Old Street, Bali Left Bank, and Fisherman's Wharf. From the Guandu Riverside cycling path, you can also head north to Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf or south along the Keelung River to Shezi Island, connecting a continuous stretch of beautiful scenery. Here, there is a rich intertidal zone ecosystem available for observation and research. The afternoon, twilight, and night each present many different appearances and sceneries, especially the riverside views of the Tamsui River, the beautiful sunset over Guanyin Mountain in Bali, and the dazzling decorative lights on the wharf after dark.
