The Jimmy Liao-themed art installations, widely loved by all, are hidden within Nangang Station on the MRT Bannan Line. Nangang MRT Station boldly introduced internationally renowned Jimmy Liao's artwork, fully embodying the station's modernity, being both realistic and aesthetic, and becoming the most talked-about topic upon the station's opening. There are a total of 6 large colorful murals inside the station. These are illustrations from Jimmy Liao's bestselling book "Subway," which were enlarged, fired onto enamel panels, and then embedded into the walls. Only one of them is an entirely new creation, blending iconic characters from Jimmy Liao's works throughout the years. The largest mural is 141 meters long and 7 meters high, located on the wall of the waiting platform. Under Jimmy Liao's delicate brushwork and observation, even before the train arrives, the scenery inside is already fully revealed: an old man reading a newspaper, commuting office workers, and bored children without seats, fantasizing about witches flying past the windows, pigs and rabbits running in a field, racing with the train. This imagery is full of interest and adds artistic leisure to otherwise boring waiting times. (Source: Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government)
