Fuyang Nature Ecological Park is located at the end of Fuyang Street in Daan District, Taipei City, just a 5-minute walk from MRT Linguang Station, covering an area of 3.8 hectares. During the Japanese colonial period, the site was used as an ammunition depot. After the Retrocession of Taiwan, it was garrisoned by the national army until their withdrawal in 1988 (ROC Year 77). In 2000 (ROC Year 89), the Taipei City Government announced the current site as park land and gradually handled land appropriation matters. From 2005 to 2006 (ROC Years 94-95), the Parks and Street Lights Office of the Public Works Department carried out the planning, design, and construction of the new park. The park has eight major themed areas, including: Entrance Interpretation Area, Ecological Stream Restoration Area, Cultural and Historical Relics Exhibition Area, Natural Succession Area, Butterfly Viewing Area, Formosan Giant Flying Squirrel Observation Area, Taipei Tree Frog Observation Area, and Cicada Serenade Resting Area. Among these, the Natural Ecological Succession Area, Butterfly Viewing Area, Formosan Giant Flying Squirrel Observation Area, and Taipei Tree Frog Observation Area collectively feature a diverse range of plants such as Machilus zuihoensis, Acacia confusa, Macaranga tanarius, and Glochidion philippicum, thousands of arbor trees, and animals including tree frogs, butterflies, and Formosan giant flying squirrels. The surrounding military dependents' villages, preserved bunkers, culverts, and weathered stone steps bear witness to the painstaking efforts of soldiers who carved them axe by axe; being amidst them feels like a spiritual connection with an older generation. Due to long-term military control, which isolated it from human disturbance, the entire valley has maintained an ecological landscape almost identical to what it was over a century ago. The park boasts rich forest vegetation, the sounds of insects and birds, and preserves low-altitude forests and streams, making it a rare ecological paradise in the city.
