Shezi Island Tip Wetland

As its name suggests, the Shezi Island Tip Wetland is located at the very tip of the island where the Keelung River and Tamsui River converge. Although it covers an area of only 1 hectare, it truly lives up to its name and offers a significant 'head' (or highlight) to behold! This island tip is a tidal flat created by the Taipei City Government using earth excavated from the dredging of the Keelung River. The tidal flat is covered with lush green grass, and slate paths and wooden boardwalks have been constructed to allow people easy access to the observation deck. The observation deck is always bustling with anglers. It is also an excellent spot to watch the confluence of the Keelung River and Tamsui River as they flow into the sea. Looking out, you are greeted with a magnificent 270-degree river view. To the right, you can see the bustling Guandu Temple, rich with incense, and the majestic Guandu Bridge with its striking 'red' presence. To the left, in the distance, stands the majestic and graceful Mount Guanyin. Occasionally, egrets fly by, dotting the landscape, creating a beautiful and picturesque scene! To the left of the platform is a dense mangrove wetland, mirroring the Guandu Nature Park Wetland on the opposite bank. After the tide recedes, fiddler crabs can be seen peeking out, collectively composing a symphony of mangrove ecology.
