The Yongjia Scenic Trail, located on Red Dragon Mountain, is situated on the mountainside of Chongde Road. Entrances are accessible from Chongde Road Lane 10 (proceeding from An-1st Road) or by ascending the stairs next to Liu Mingchuan Tunnel. It offers wide views, is well-planned, and follows mountain ridge stairs, passing historical sites such as forts and temples. Legend has it that during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China era, a highly spiritual fisherman, who worked year-round in the waters near Keelung Islet, observed Red Dragon Mountain from the islet at sunset. He noticed it resembled a red dragon coiled around the mountain, hence its name. Along with Shiqiuling, Hongdanshan, and Yuemeishan, it served as a Qing army stronghold during the Sino-French War. Therefore, abandoned Qing army bunkers can be seen along the way, allowing hikers to feel the imprints of history. The Yongjia Scenic Trail takes about 40 minutes one way. The path is not long, and the slopes are not too steep, allowing visitors to choose a section suitable for their hike. Besides hiking, the entire trail offers views of Keelung Harbor, allowing people to exercise while enjoying the scenery. Although the mountains in Keelung are not high, they all offer views of Keelung city. Red Dragon Mountain also features a scenic platform, allowing visitors to clearly understand the layout of various locations in Keelung city, a thoughtful design. A walk along the Yongjia Scenic Trail can be combined with visits to nearby attractions such as Liu Mingchuan Tunnel and Shiqiuling Battery, or extended to Lover's Lake and Waimushan Beach.
