-Attraction Introduction-Follow the trail up the hill, and Baimiweng Fort quietly overlooks Keelung Port. The cannons have long been silent, leaving behind four massive gun emplacements. Between the emplacements are underground ammunition depots or command posts, and the high ground on both sides houses command posts and observation posts. Lined up in a row, they seem to still guard the horizon where sea meets sky. Looking around at the vast, boundless distance, three towering chimneys come into view, a reminder that the power plant is in operation. As the sea breeze blows, the gears of time slowly turn, allowing one to feel the captivating charm woven from history and nature. -Attraction Features-Baimiweng Fort, built in the past to defend against invaders from the sea, is said to have had preliminary fortifications as early as the Spanish and Dutch colonial periods to protect San Salvador Fort (during Dutch rule: Fort Noord-Holland) in the harbor. Standing at the firing command post and second observation post on the hill east of the fort, one can gaze out over the entire Keelung Port and imagine the imposing presence of soldiers on high alert in those days. Originally equipped with four massive cannons, today only the gun emplacements, breastworks, and observation deck remain. Time seems to have frozen here, allowing visitors a glimpse into the military readiness of a century ago and to experience the grandeur where history merges with mountain and sea scenery. -Recommended Activities-We recommend a leisurely stroll up the hill, enjoying local community stories along the way and the lush natural scenery. Stop at the ammunition depots and observation posts to observe the military remnants etched with the marks of time. Rest at the pavilion located on high ground, and leisurely gaze at the horizon where sea meets sky. If time permits, you can also embark on the hiking trail to Keelung Lighthouse and Qizi Mountain Lighthouse, collecting all the magnificent views! -Nearby Recommendations-Continuing along the mountain path, you might want to catch a glimpse of "Keelung Lighthouse." Its pure white tower stands out strikingly against the blue sky, making it an excellent spot to admire the harbor and take photos.
