Introduction Its predecessor was the 'Keelung Branch Office' of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), completed in 1915. After World War II, it was taken over by the Nationalist Government of the Republic of China and handed over to the modern shipping company China Merchants Steam Navigation Company. In 1972, China Merchants Steam Navigation Company spun off to establish Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation. Today, the museum combines Keelung's history with marine culture, presenting maritime knowledge in diverse ways to help everyone understand the daily lives of Keelung's maritime workers. Features The Yang Ming Marine Culture and Art Museum showcases marine culture and humanistic art. It offers an edutainment approach to learning about ship structures, ocean knowledge, and other topics, with exhibitions changing periodically. Visitors can not only learn more about the story of Keelung Port but also understand the work and daily lives of maritime professionals through diverse interactions and exhibits. In addition to exhibitions, the museum also provides a unique simulated navigation experience, allowing visitors to put on captain and crew uniforms and simulate the thrill of sailing on the open sea under different scenarios and weather conditions. For children, there's the 'Little Sailor Experience Activity,' where parent-child visitors can work together to unlock maritime missions and achieve accomplishments! Nearby Recommendations Walk to Guomen Plaza and Ocean Plaza to watch cruise ships and enjoy views of Keelung Port. Alternatively, walk to Xiaosan Road to discover local Keelung delicacies.
