-Attraction Overview- Sheliao Tianhou Temple, located on Heping Island, boasts a long history, blending Southern Min architectural features with exquisite carvings and colorful paintings. It serves as a spiritual center and cultural landmark for local residents.-Attraction Features-Sheliao Tianhou Temple is also known as 'Sheliao Mazu Jian' (Sheliao Mazu Temple) and was originally named 'Dajilong Port Tianhou Temple'. It is a spiritual center for residents of Heping Island and one of the oldest Mazu Temples in Northern Taiwan. It primarily enshrines Mazu from Meizhou, with Fude Zhengshen (God of Wealth and Earth) on the left and Shuixian Zunwang (Water Immortal Kings) on the right. The temple's structure was built by Master Chen Ah-man from Yilan, while the wood carvings were completed by folk master Huang Gui-li and Master A-tu from Yilan, each working on different sections. Annually, on the 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month, for Mazu's birthday, devotees carry Mazu in a procession around the island, creating a very lively scene.-Nearby Recommendations- After leaving Sheliao Tianhou Temple, you can visit the Heping Island Tourist Fish Market to feast on fresh seafood, and then head to nearby Keelung specialty stores to choose unique Keelung souvenirs to share with family and friends.
