**Attraction Introduction** The history of Ershawan Battery can be traced back to the period after the Sino-French War, built by Liu Ming-chuan. It was one of the important strongholds guarding Keelung Harbor's inner port at that time. The battery was built into the mountainside. From its high vantage point, one can overlook the entire harbor scenery. Not only is the view spectacular, but it also evokes a sense of imagination and respect for the war years. At the entrance to the barracks, the four characters 'Haimen Tianxian' (Heavenly Barrier of the Sea Gate) are inscribed on the lintel. **Attraction Features** Stepping into the battery area is like walking through a time tunnel to the past. Remnants such as barracks, artillery platforms, and bunkers stand silently amidst the mountains, exuding a serene atmosphere steeped in history. As you slowly walk along the shaded trail, the rich surrounding ecosystem often reveals butterflies fluttering gracefully and even nimble squirrels scurrying about, making you unconsciously slow your pace. Reaching the highest point offers a panoramic view of Keelung Harbor. The expansive scenery contrasts sharply with the tranquil surroundings. Gazing quietly at the sea and the slowly moving ships, it feels as if time itself has slowed down, making it truly worth experiencing in person. **Recommended Activities** It is recommended to visit Ershawan Battery along with the nearby Fort Command Headquarters and Shawen Historical and Cultural Park at the foot of the mountain. Then, continue to the Military Service Park (which houses the only preserved late-Qing dynasty 8-inch Armstrong breech-loading cannon in Taiwan). This can be arranged into a half-day tour blending history, culture, and scenic beauty, allowing you to experience the unique charm of Keelung, a harbor city.
