Agunna Shipyard

-Attraction Introduction- The main structure of the Agunna Shipyard dates back to the Japanese colonial period, when it served as a transportation hub for the Jinguashi coal mine. After the war, it was taken over by an American company for yacht manufacturing. Today, its exposed reinforced concrete exudes a decaying beauty, even attracting Hollywood star Chris Evans to film a commercial here. -Attraction Features- The Agunna Shipyard was originally the Bachimen Coal Storage Yard, established in 1919. During the Japanese colonial period, it served as a vital loading and unloading dock for transporting minerals from Jinguashi. After the war, it was taken over by the Republic of China government and remained in use until 1962. From 1966, it was leased by the American company Agunna Shipyard for manufacturing yachts and sailboats until its closure in 1987. In 2016, the ruins of the Agunna Shipyard were designated as a historic building by Keelung City, and the massive reinforced concrete structures left on site attract visitors due to their unique appearance. -Recommended Activities- It is recommended to visit the Agunna Shipyard in the early morning or afternoon. Follow the peripheral walkway to admire the architectural structures. Sunlight filtering through the mottled walls and steel frames creates a unique play of light and shadow. In the evening, you can capture breathtaking moments as the sunset pierces through the buildings, making it an unmissable photography spot for enthusiasts. Shooting from Heping Bridge offers the best lighting and fully showcases the shipyard's architectural structure.
