This archway, designed in the style of a Northern Chinese palace, is located at the intersection of the southern end of Jinwen Bridge and the Central Cross-Island Highway. The six characters "東西橫貫公路" (East-West Cross-Island Highway) inscribed on the plaque were handwritten by Mr. Wang Chuang-wei, an important calligrapher of his time, and it has been the most representative symbol since the opening of the Central Cross-Island Highway. From the archway, heading right and uphill will lead you to the Taroko Visitor Center, which offers detailed information on Taroko's geology, ecology, and tourism. The nearby Taroko Terrace Trail, about 1 kilometer long, is flat and easy to walk, making it perfect for enjoying a leisurely time.
