Yuli Shrine Ruins

The 'Yuli Shrine Ruins', located west of the train station, were built under the town shrine policy during the Japanese colonial period. After World War II, the main structure collapsed. Currently, only two torii gates, some stone lanterns, and the worship stairs remain, making it the most well-preserved shrine ruin in Hualien. Once overgrown with weeds, the shrine was designated as a county-level historic site in Hualien in 2008, allowing its past historical and cultural splendor to re-emerge. From the torii gate at the entrance to the top of the shrine, the path is gentle and easy to walk. Looking down from above at the long staircase, it is full of Japanese ambiance, creating a unique sense of temporal overlap, and adding a touch of tranquility and mystery to the shrine hidden within the mountains.
