Located in Hualien City's Sixth Redevelopment Zone, the night market forms a two-horizontal, one-vertical path around Sunshine Electric City, encompassing Fudong Night Market, Provincial Delicacies Street, and Indigenous Street. With over 400 stalls, it has gained fame in Hualien's tourism scene since the summer of 2015, thanks to its exciting array of snacks, games, and performances. Whether locals or tourists, a trip to Hualien is incomplete without a visit to Dongdamen Night Market to experience its diverse range of local treats. Since the end of 2015, a new section of the Zi Qiang Night Market has been added, with dozens of original Zi Qiang Night Market vendors officially moving in, forming a fourth area in addition to Fudong Night Market, Indigenous Street, and Provincial Delicacies Street. Many of these vendors are highly popular, long-established brands in the Hualien area, attracting numerous foodies and loyal customers who eagerly visit the night market, further boosting the already bustling Dongdamen Night Market's popularity. The Dongdamen Commercial District, formed around the old Hualien Line railway, connects with Dongdamen Night Market as its base. It links to the Century-Old Shops District (Dayu Street, Yixin Street), Souvenir Street (Zhonghua Road), Xingang Street, Jieyue Street, and the Old Railway Pedestrian Zone, exuding a rich cultural atmosphere. The Century-Old Shops District boasts many famous local shops and unique delicacies. Souvenir Street offers Hualien's local specialties, perfect for gifting or personal use. Xingang Street gathers many popular snack vendors, with various dishes to satisfy appetites from morning till late night, while Jieyue Street features artsy cafes and cultural and creative small shops. The Old Railway Pedestrian Zone was once a section of the Hualien-Taitung Railway that ran through Hualien City to the seaside train station. Now, every evening, vendors gradually set up simple stalls, displaying clothes, accessories, handmade creative goods, and more, attracting tourists to stop, browse, and shop. Strolling here, visitors can watch young people perform energetic songs and dances; this small pathway gathers youthful vitality and cultural passion.
