East Coast National Scenic Area Hualien Visitor Center

Follow Provincial Highway 11 along its winding path to reach the Hualien Visitor Center, located at the northernmost end of the East Coast National Scenic Area. Situated on a hillside, the center serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the East Coast. Inside, visitors can find exhibition rooms showcasing the natural and cultural resources of the entire area and tourist attractions along the East Coast, along with a multimedia briefing room capable of seating 81 people. It is recommended to consult for travel information here before starting your journey. Facing the vast Pacific Ocean, the Hualien Visitor Center offers superb views, allowing visitors to gaze upon the endless blue ocean and enjoy an unparalleled seascape. Every April and May, the pondside slopes next to the visitor center, where Formosa lilies are being rehabilitated, burst into bloom. Strolling along the surrounding scenic trails, you can admire the picturesque white sea of flowers swaying gently in the breeze, a truly invigorating sight with mountains at its back and the sea in front. Heading north from the visitor center, you can reach Lingding Cape, which marks the northern boundary of the Coastal Mountain Range. Here, you can witness the magnificent 'Huiluan' (returning current) scenery, created by the confluence of the Hualien River and the Pacific Ocean. This spectacular view is why Hualien Port was formerly known as 'Huiluan Port'.
