AMIS Sea Festival Plaza

The Amis Fishing Ritual of Ji'an Township is held annually around June at the 'AMIS Sea Festival Plaza'. This plaza is an important venue for preserving the fishing ritual and Amis marine culture. It is also the intersection of the Hualien Coastal Bikeway and the Guanghua Riverside Bikeway. It can be a bit difficult to find on Google Maps, there's no parking lot, and visibility is poor at night, so it's recommended to visit in the morning or evening. Upon arriving at the plaza, the view is truly expansive, and there's a landmark art installation. If you get tired, you can sit on the ground. Besides being a great spot for Ji'an residents to walk, jog, and exercise, directly in front of it is Huilan Bay, which is the estuary of the Hualien River. It's a fantastic place to overlook Hualien Mountain (Qiqi Heights), gaze at the Pacific Ocean, enjoy sunrises, and birdwatch. To allow the public to experience the local cultural atmosphere, the Ji'an Township Office has installed an 'AMIS Sea Festival Plaza' themed entrance sign at the intersection of Nanbin Road and Huazhong Road, incorporating indigenous elements to guide visitors entering the Sea Festival Plaza via Huazhong Road.
