Pacific Park (Nanbin Section, Beibin Section)

Hualien Pacific Park comprises the Nanbin Section and Beibin Section. Nanbin Park is designed along the Nanbin coastline, preserving its original natural landscape. Sitting on the large rocks by the shore, visitors can gaze out at the vast Pacific Ocean and the crescent-shaped 'Huiluan New Bay'. Next to the seawall, it connects to the Liangtan (Two Lakes) cycling path. The park environment is clean and features seating for pedestrians. Its expansive area, coupled with Hualien's fresh air, makes it an excellent leisure spot for people on both weekdays and holidays. Inside the park, there is a Roman-style central plaza, parking lots, and public restrooms, as well as a children's playground. The overall design is very convenient for the public, and its barrier-free facilities are a blessing for the elderly. The Beibin Section features large 3D painted installations, including a 'carp leaping out of water' artwork at the entrance, a 3D hand-painted 'Ocean World' mural, an extreme sports park, and a beach volleyball court, all highly popular among young people. Both sections are great destinations for family outings. Pacific Park occasionally hosts holiday markets or cultural performances. Activities are lively both morning and evening; during the day, visitors can cycle or stroll, while at night, it's a perfect spot to listen to the waves and stargaze. The Beibin Section of Pacific Park, spanning approximately 7 hectares, boasts the renowned Beibin Asahi Beach Park, as well as a 'carp leaping over dragon gate' entrance motif combined with 3D painted art. This includes a massive 3D artwork 'Cosmic Dragon' with a diameter of 30 meters, a vivid 'Ocean World' mural, and hollow photo booth frames, among other large installations. This year, Pacific Park showcases even more new features, with newly opened facilities such as an extreme sports park, a parent-child sand play area, and volleyball courts, which are also very popular among local youth. The Nanbin Section of Pacific Park, covering about 20 hectares, has a staircase at its entrance. To the left of the staircase entrance stands a sailboat sculpture inscribed with 'Pacific Park'. Following the slope behind it leads directly to the white sand playground. Alternatively, one can take the stairs directly up to the playground, but the gentle slope is easier to walk and more suitable for families with children. At the end of the slope, visitors will find a sand play area, where the white sand against the blue sky and the vast ocean behind creates a captivating scene. Compared to other unique parks in Hualien, this playground is exceptionally popular. This is because the sand play area not only features sand but also includes a pirate ship, swings, and trampolines. The combination of rich facilities and white sand doubles the fun of playing in the sand, delighting every child who visits. Notably, the 'Slide of Love,' created by renowned cartoonist Hsiao Yen-chung, is a play facility inspired by the image of elephant parents and their calves playing, allowing visiting families to experience Mr. Hsiao's imaginative world. Adjacent to the sand play area is the Nanbin Section cycling path, which has a smooth and very walkable surface, ideal for both cycling and strolling. It's perfect for families to play in the sand, enjoy the sea, feel the sea breeze, and share a pleasant afternoon—the simplest form of happiness.
