Qixingtan is Hualien County's only county-level scenic area, also known as Crescent Bay. It features a strait formed by a fault and a beautiful arc-shaped bay, offering rich natural and cultural landscapes. The seawater is clean and azure blue, and the black pebbles are sparkling and translucent. From here, one can gaze upon lush green mountains and winding roads. The scenic area extends from the coast to the Qixingtan Community. Qixingtan is adjacent to Taroko National Park, the East Coast, and the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area. Thanks to many years of development and maintenance by the Hualien County Government, Qixingtan has become one of Hualien's premier scenic areas. At Qixingtan, not only can one overlook Qingshui Cliff, but the lights of the Xincheng and Chongde areas are also clearly visible at night, making it an excellent spot for locals to enjoy the night view and admire the stars. The Qixingtan Scenic Area features a cycling path, allowing visitors to enjoy famous attractions such as Nanbin Park, the Stone Sculpture Museum, and the Stargazing Square all the way through by bicycle. The 21-kilometer cycling journey offers visitors a variety of visual experiences. Additionally, near the fishing grounds, there are interpretive signs about marine ecology, and a coastal botanical garden has been established in the windbreak forest area, allowing the public to gain knowledge in addition to appreciating the scenery. The Stone Sculpture Park by Qixingtan beach features exquisite stone sculptures, adding a considerable artistic ambiance to Qixingtan. Riding a bicycle against the wind, leaning forward to feel the power of the northeast monsoon; or, under safe conditions, admiring the towering waves brought by the monsoon from a distance, which is truly spectacular. Furthermore, Hualien Airport is right next to the Qixingtan Scenic Area, so if you're lucky, you might even see several military aircraft flying overhead in formation.
