Hualien in summer is lively and exciting, with the passionate eastern sun attracting waves of tourists. Summer Hualien is a water recreation paradise. You can indulge in the mountains and rivers, drifting in the clear, cool stream with professional river tracing coaches. If that's not enough, try the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Xiuguluan River, which will surely make you scream with excitement. In the evening, join the Amis tribe for a "Song of the Ocean" and experience a romantic lovers' night. The wonderful summer programs in Hualien are staged one after another, ensuring you will want to linger. Rafting is a popular water activity in eastern Taiwan. The canyon topography and rapid meanders create an exciting and fun rafting experience. The Xiuguluan River is the most popular rafting destination in Taiwan. Along the 24-kilometer stretch from Ruisui Bridge to the estuary at Changhong Bridge, you'll find majestic canyons, unique rock formations, and over twenty rapids and shoals of various sizes, hinting at the thrilling nature of the trip. The entire rafting trip takes about three to four hours. After a stop at Qimei Rest Area to replenish energy, the adventure continues. Rafting is thrilling and exciting, making it one of the must-do activities for young people visiting Hualien. Rafting is available year-round, with the peak season typically from April to October. Boats usually depart between 7 AM and 12 PM; departures in the afternoon are rare, and no boats are allowed to depart after 3 PM. Safety Precautions: Rafting is not suitable for individuals with heart disease or epilepsy. Do not consume alcohol before or during rafting. Before rafting, you should listen carefully to the safety briefing provided by the rafting company and watch the rafting safety video from the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration. Rafting attire should be light and comfortable, with soft-soled cloth shoes or rubber shoes for easy walking on the riverbed and to prevent scratches during rafting. When rafting in summer, apply sunscreen to exposed body parts to prevent sunburn. Do not remove your life jacket or helmet, or untie their straps, to avoid losing your flotation aid if you fall into the water. Please do not litter and pollute the water during rafting. Xiuguluan River Rafting Center Fax: 03-8875405. Located next to Ruisui Bridge in the Huadong Rift Valley, it is the starting point for Xiuguluan River rafting activities. The rafting center features an exhibition area showcasing the ecological resources of the Xiuguluan River rafting section and plays a rafting safety video. The accompanying campground is very popular and often fully booked. The Xiuguluan River Visitor Center provides an added layer of safety; with its beautiful architecture nestled amidst the mountains, serving as the rafting's starting point, it helps you prepare mentally and ensures all safety conditions are met, making it an excellent choice and travel itinerary.
