During the day, Liyu Lake teems with butterflies and birds, and at night, you can enjoy fireflies and the sound of cicadas. In addition to strolling along the lakeside path, cycling around the lake is also an excellent choice. Starting from the North Lake parking lot, you'll be accompanied by refreshing breezes rich in phytoncides from the forest, while on the other side, Liyu Lake's waters shimmer. The North Lake Waterfront Park is a common gathering spot for many cyclists, where they discuss Hualien's beautiful sights and share cycling experiences – a must-visit for bike enthusiasts. Alternatively, you can rent a pedal boat to tour the lake and enjoy its scenic beauty. Afterward, head to the food district, where Liyu Lake's abundant, fresh, and delicious seafood will satisfy your palate. After replenishing your energy, visit the Aquaculture Research Institute to explore the Fishery Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall and the lake and marsh ecological zone, learning about Taiwan's fishery development. From here, you can continue along the lakeside trail for a full circuit, or detour to Baibao River to experience completely different mountain scenery, bringing your Liyu Lake cycling trip to a perfect end. Total length: approximately 5 kilometers. One-way travel time: 25 to 30 minutes. Trail conditions: Occasional uphill and downhill sections, with a smooth surface. Width: 2.5m, two-way lane.
