Luye Shrine

The Luye Shrine is located in Longtian Village, Luye Township. It was funded by the Taitung Sugar Manufacturing Company and jointly constructed by Japanese immigrants from Luye Village who volunteered their labor. It was relocated to its current site in Showa 6 (1931). The original shrine building was dismantled after the war, leaving only its foundation, which was also slated for demolition. However, local residents began actively advocating for the preservation of local history in 2013. Eventually, master craftsmen specializing in shrine restoration were invited from Japan, and they collaborated with Taiwanese carpenters to reconstruct it on the original site, completing it in 2015. Standing on the plain, the shrine, with surrounding farms and hills as its backdrop, creates a tranquil and lush historical landscape. Since its reopening, it has attracted many tourists who come to check-in and take photos.
