Vajra Avenue

The Zhongyong Bicycle Path is a lesser-known cycling route on the East Coast. This loop path passes through the Zhongyong and Changguang communities. Both Zhongyong and Changguang Communities are sites of the late Neolithic Qilin Culture (also known as the Megalithic Culture). The modern inhabitants are predominantly the Amis people, a major indigenous group on the East Coast, making these some of the larger Amis communities in the region. During the Qing Dynasty rule, they primarily cultivated dry rice and millet. In the Japanese colonial period, they learned wet rice cultivation techniques from the Kavalan people living in the Chengtzaijpu area, concentrating their tribal labor to open up irrigation channels and transforming the landscape into the terraced fields visible everywhere today.
