Küng-Tung Technical High School Chapel Building

Küng-Tung Technical High School was planned and founded in 1957 by Father Josef Eugster of the Bethlehem Mission Society (full name: Swiss Bethlehem Foreign Mission Society). One of the most important missions of the Bethlehem Mission Society in its early days in Taiwan was to help young people in the remote Hualien-Taitung region find a better starting point for life development through vocational education, while also cultivating the skilled workforce needed for Taiwan's industrial development. Küng-Tung Technical High School had very rigorous teaching. For its first ten years, teaching was primarily conducted by 15 Swiss technicians, and the teaching materials and methods used were all imported from Europe. This established Küng-Tung Technical High School as one of Taiwan's most renowned institutions in vocational education, cultivating many highly specialized talents for Taiwan, and frequently winning international awards.
