Malaolao Trail

The Malaolao Trail is named after Chenggong Township's old name, Malaolao. According to historical records, the Amis people first settled here and formed communities during the early Qing Dynasty. The trail is 1.12 kilometers long, and its end leads to the famous Rainbow Waterfall (Xingang Waterfall). This trail was originally an old local path for collecting and drawing water, leading to the base of Rainbow Waterfall. Because this trail serves as an important water intake point for Chenggong Township, its construction differs from typical hiking trails. The main principle is to avoid water pollution, using the most natural methods and materials. The path materials are not treated with preservatives, and it was renovated using ecological engineering methods, adapted to the terrain, to become a hiking trail easily accessible to the public.
