The name "Chaikou" originates from a period when early Han Chinese settlers came to develop Green Island and had conflicts with the island's indigenous people. Both sides built wooden fences here for confrontation, and at that time, the place was called "Shakou" (柵口, meaning 'fence mouth'). Later, with the changes of the times and local development, it was renamed "Chaikou" (柴口, meaning 'firewood mouth'). It is currently designated as a snorkeling area.
