Old Yeyin Tribe

Yeyin is called Ivalino by the Tao people, referring to the beach morning glory. Legend has it that the ancestors of Yeyin were originally from Batan Island in the Philippines. He and his companions crossed the sea to Orchid Island (Lanyu) and married a widow there. After the marriage, the widow abandoned her two original children, returned to Batan Island with her husband, and gave birth to two sons. Soon after, a famine struck the island. Forced by circumstances, they had no choice but to move their entire family back to Orchid Island. They initially intended to seek refuge with the father-in-law's family but were driven out by the father-in-law. The couple, with their children, drifted without support and were homeless. They had no choice but to come to the then uninhabited southeastern coast and established today's Yeyin Tribe in the wilderness.
