According to legend, during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, fishermen encountering distress at sea spotted a flickering fireball in the east. They sailed towards it and safely returned to shore. Later, they discovered a cave containing a one-meter-tall stalagmite that resembled Guanyin Bodhisattva. Thus, the spot was named 'Guanyin Cave.' The method of worship here is unique: since the Guanyin stone statue sits facing east on a lotus pedestal, with its back to the worshippers, devotees must worship from the opposite direction.
