Green Island Prison

Green Island was once the island with the highest prison density in the world, with various types of prisons on its small landmass. Green Island Prison is a department under the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, and is a high-security isolation prison. It serves as the last line of defense for all prisons in Taiwan and currently still incarcerates criminal offenders sentenced to severe penalties. Green Island Prison covers a land area of 3.7 hectares. Its buildings include one inner and one outer office building, one Rixintang Hall, one solitary confinement unit, one communal cell block, one isolation ward, one calm-down room, one workshop, and one kitchen.
