Green Island Ziping Ecological Reserve

Ziping is located at the southernmost tip of Green Island. Follow the wooden boardwalk marked by a red sign next to the Round-the-Island Road to reach the Ziping Ecological Reserve. This ecological zone is a tidal pool formed by coral reefs and is also home to Green Island's famous lagoon. The lagoon here differs from the common sandbar lagoons found in western Taiwan; it is a "barrier reef lagoon" formed by coral reefs. The waters within the reefs are isolated from the open sea, forming a lagoon parallel to the coastline.
