Dulan Site

Dulan's name is derived from the local Amis word 'A‘tolan' (phonetically rendered as Atolan), meaning a place abundant in stones and prone to frequent earthquakes. Dulan Village, situated in Donghe Township, Taitung County, is a quintessential Amis tribal settlement. It is nestled against Dulan Mountain and overlooks the vast, boundless Pacific Ocean, offering delightful scenery. The Taitung Coastal Mountain Range, shaped by prolonged tectonic plate compression, stretches for over a hundred kilometers with its undulating peaks. A magnificent marine terrace extends for 4 kilometers. The terrain here closely resembles the gentle marine terraces found in Changbin Township. Perhaps it is due to the bounty of this ancient landscape that millennia of geological transformations have unearthed a valuable archaeological culture: the Dulan Site.
