The Donghe Bridge Recreation Area, located at the mouth of the Mawukou River, is an important hub connecting Chenggong Township and Donghe Township in Taitung, and a must-visit attraction on any East Coast journey. The old and new Donghe Bridges, spanning the river, present a contrast of ancient and modern, grey and red, each with its unique charm. Built in 1930, the old bridge features a design that combines round arches and a water frame, cleverly blending with the terrain and the large rocks in the river. It has been listed as one of Taiwan's Top 100 Historical Buildings. The new bridge, on the other hand, is a vibrant red steel arch structure, simple, sleek, and full of modern flair.
