National Taiwan Museum of Prehistory

The National Taiwan Museum of Prehistory, Taiwan's first national museum in the east, originated from the discovery of the Beinan Cultural Site. The museum boasts world-class architectural design and rich exhibits. It also features accessible and pleasant outdoor areas with popular attractions favored by visitors, such as Moai statues and expansive lawn landscapes outside the museum. The permanent exhibitions inside are divided into three main halls: The 'Taiwan Prehistory Hall' showcases archaeological discoveries from the past century, guiding visitors to explore Taiwan's prehistoric history. The 'Austronesian Hall' introduces Oceanic culture from the perspective of Austronesian peoples and connects it with global cultural interactions. The 'Taiwan Natural History Hall' showcases Taiwan's natural history from different periods through three exhibition rooms: Birth, Ice Age, and New Generations. The 'Discovery Hall' is equipped with comfortable hardware and software facilities, and the space features many artworks created by indigenous artists. It combines public facilities with illustrations or uses picture books, games, and exhibits to guide parents and children in understanding prehistoric culture and indigenous issues.
