Jialulan Recreation Area

Jialulan is an Amis tribe located in Donghe Township, Taitung County. Its tribal language name is 'kararuan', meaning 'the place for washing hair'. Legend has it that in the past, the river water was rich in natural minerals, and after washing hair with it, hair would become exceptionally soft, smooth, and shiny, hence the name. The recreation area was formerly a waste soil disposal site for an air force base. After multiple ecological engineering renovations, it has transformed into a coastal attraction that combines natural landscapes with artistic creations.
