Visitor Essentials

Sigge Mountain is located in Dingyanwan, Binlang Village, Beinan Township, Taitung, just a 20-minute drive from Taitung City Railway Station. Geologically, it is a small mountain at the southern end of the Coastal Mountain Range, formed by the collision of the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate. The name "Sigge Mountain" originates from the Pinuyumayan aboriginal language "Pinlang Sigge," meaning "the land where betel nut trees are planted." Due to its strategic terrain, it was designated as a military base with artillery emplacements during the Japanese colonial period. Although its elevation is only 410 meters, its position as the highest point on the Taitung Plain, coupled with unobstructed views in all directions, makes it an excellent spot for panoramic views of Taitung City and the surrounding mountain landscapes. It is also a tranquil hidden gem near Taitung City, perfect for leisure walks and hiking.
