Visitor Essentials
The main hall of Tianhou Temple is dedicated to the Heavenly Holy Mother (Mazu). The principal Mazu statue has a powdered face and stands approximately 1.2 meters tall. The original founding Mazu statue is still preserved. The left hall features an embroidered curtain inscribed with 'Civilization and might shake the human world,' and enshrines Emperor Guan and Confucius, the Most Sage Teacher. The right hall has an embroidered curtain inscribed with 'Abundant harvests and peaceful people,' and enshrines Emperor Shennong and the Goddess of Childbirth. Distinct from typical temples in western Taiwan, it houses a carved statue of Confucius rather than venerating him with a spirit tablet.
