On the first floor, the infant and toddler zone features furniture heights designed from a child's perspective, toys for sensory exploration, and anti-dust mite, disinfectable, and washable crawling mats chosen with parents' strict standards in mind. A dedicated stroller parking area is also provided, ensuring children can enjoy reading in the safest environment. **5 Major Innovative Services:** **Respite Service:** To allow hardworking infant and toddler caregivers time to rest and enjoy the library's facilities and spaces, professional early childhood education teachers are available every Tuesday morning. Parents can confidently leave their children in the activity area, where teachers will assist them with reading, while parents can go to other floors of the library to watch a movie or read a favorite novel. **Smart Return Machines:** The Pingtung County Main Library has introduced an RFID system along with self-service borrowing and returning machines. In addition to the borrowing machines found in other libraries nationwide, we have pioneered the country's first 'smart return shelf'. This not only allows readers to return books conveniently but also reduces the time lag previously required for staff to process books from traditional self-return machines. Books placed on the smart return shelf can be immediately checked out, allowing good books to circulate faster. **Drive-Through Book Returns:** For many commuters and families who travel by car, we offer a unique 'drive-through book return' service. Currently, Pingtung is the only place in the country where books can be automatically returned directly in the parking lot, saving everyone valuable time. **Innovative Parent-Child Services:** Considering children's habits, the entire children's reading area features natural wood flooring, making the space warm and comfortable. We have specially created a dedicated zone for infants and toddlers aged 0-3, allowing them to enjoy reading in a healthy, non-toxic environment. A dedicated stroller parking area is also provided, so parents don't have to worry about where to put their strollers or blocking others. **Lecture Hall Live Broadcast Service:** The library frequently hosts many exciting lectures, but sometimes the public cannot attend in person due to limited seating or inability to participate for the entire duration. The fifth-floor lecture hall has been renovated and upgraded to provide high-quality lectures with excellent sound and lighting. We have also specially installed a live broadcast function, allowing authorized speakers to transmit their content in real-time, so more people worldwide can view the library's carefully arranged lectures.
