Cihdong Tianyao Temple

Originally a site associated with a Japanese prince, today the Tianyao Temple in Cihdong, a major religious center, primarily worships Mazu. It is commonly known as 'Cihdong Alley Mazu' and serves as the spiritual hub of the Cihdong urban area. During the Japanese colonial period, the original temple was demolished by the Japanese, and the 'Kitashirakawa-no-miya Imperial Relic Monument' was erected on its original site to commemorate Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa, a general of the Imperial Japanese Army who led the conquest of Taiwan in 1895 and had camped in Cihdong Alley.
