Gouzao Zhenwu Temple

The Gouzao Zhenwu Temple is dedicated to the War God Emperor Lord (Xuan Tian Shang Di), also known as Emperor of the Dark Heaven of the North Pole. It primarily enshrines Xuan Tian Shang Di along with his two marshals, Kang and Zhao (represented by the turtle and snake spirits). Built in the early Qing Dynasty, the temple boasts a history of over two hundred years. Gouzao Village is predominantly inhabited by the Cai clan from Qingyang. In earlier times, during a clan feud between the Wu and Cai families in Beigang, the Emperor Lord reportedly manifested his divine power to assist the Cai family.
