The Linnei Kaifu Temple, established by the prominent Zheng clan of Linnei, primarily worships Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong), revered as the Sage King Who Opened Taiwan, and secondarily Master Cankui of Yinlin Mountain. Tradition holds that the temple was built by descendants of the Zheng clan of Linnei during the Xianfeng era (1851-1861). During the late Japanese colonial period's Japanization movement, it was demolished by the Japanese, and the temple grounds were rebuilt as the Linnei Shrine. It was not until the 1960s that it was rebuilt at its current location.
