This ancient Mazu temple at the head of the street was built in 1722, making it the earliest Mazu temple in Douliu Street. Together with Yongfu Temple, it is collectively known as 'Mazu Temple at the Head of the Street, Guanyin Pavilion at the End of the Street.' It primarily worships Mazu, the Heavenly Holy Mother. A unique feature is that all Mazu statues within Shoutian Temple hold a 'memorial tablet' (奏板), signifying that 'She reports the petitions of all sentient beings to the Jade Emperor, who then makes a final decision after judgment.' This is considered one of its distinctive characteristics.
