Douliu Nansheng Temple

The Douliu Nansheng Temple, home to Taiwan's largest wooden Guan Gong statue, was originally named Cixiu Hall. It belongs to the Luántáng (spirit-writing temple) system, dedicated to using spirit writing to help the world. It primarily enshrines five deities: Emperor Guan, Patriarch Lü, the Kitchen God, King Yue, and Marshal Wang Lingguan. Devotees respectfully refer to them as the 'Five Sacred Benevolent Lords'. The Lord Guan statue enshrined in the temple, carved from camphorwood, stands approximately 12 feet (3.6 meters) tall and weighs over 600 Taiwanese catties (approximately 360 kg), a rare sight in Taiwan.
