Beixi Paper-Cutting Art Village

Beixi Paper-Cutting Art Village showcases the art of paper-cutting from traditional Chinese culture. Predominantly festive red, the works are painted with vibrant red patterns on white walls, utility poles, and other surfaces, exuding a strong Chinese New Year atmosphere, making it the most festive painted village in Taiwan. The village preserves many ancient Southern Min (Hokkien) style buildings, including nearly century-old siheyuan (quadrangle courtyards), which are very intriguing. The faded walls are painted with a white base and bold red patterned paper-cutting art, featuring themes such as fables, the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, and New Year festivals. These works stand out with their distinctive characteristics among many painted villages, leaving a deep impression. Additionally, there are frequent temple activities that attract devout pilgrims, while the paper-cutting murals within the community further enhance the festive ambiance, adding an artistic touch to the streets.
