Mr. Zheng Fengxi, recognizing the lack of library facilities in rural areas during his lifetime, resolved to establish a library. Unfortunately, he passed away from liver cancer before realizing his ambition. To fulfill her husband's dying wish, his wife, Ms. Wu Jizhao, worked tirelessly to establish the "Zheng Fengxi Cultural and Educational Foundation" and began fundraising for the library's construction. With assistance from various parties, the library was completed in 1989, covering an area of 519.4 ping (approximately 1,716 square meters). It was designed by renowned architect Mr. C.Y. Lee, featuring a distinctive boat-shaped structure. In 1992, it was honored as an outstanding township library. Located on Yunlin County Road 164 in Kouhu Township, the library's unique architecture is particularly characterized by its sloped-back, boat-shaped roof. Its prominent structure stands beside lush green rice paddies, resembling from afar a ship with unfurled sails, braving the waves on the vast ocean, much like the life inspiration he conveyed in his books—always striving relentlessly. It was Mr. Zheng Fengxi's greatest wish that this library would offer a comfortable reading environment and a rich collection of books for local children and residents. The library also displays his personal belongings, including books he used and his prosthetic limbs, allowing visitors to learn more about his life story and achievements.
