Beigang Chaotian Temple

Beigang Chaotian Temple, the main Mazu temple in Taiwan, primarily worships Mazu. It is commonly said, 'There is Guandu Mazu in the north and Beigang Mazu in the south.' The temple is a national historic site. Every year on the 19th and 20th days of the third lunar month, the 'Beigang Welcome Mazu,' a significant national folk custom, is celebrated with great fanfare. This event has fostered numerous artisan craftsmen and century-old performance troupes in Beigang.
