【1895 Baguashan Anti-Japanese and Taiwan Protection Historical Museum】A Past Woven with Blood and Tears On August 1, 1894, the Qing government and the Japanese government officially went to war over the Korean issue. According to statistics, the Qing government mobilized 600,000 troops, while Japan dispatched 240,000. The two nations engaged in a world-shaking land and sea battle along the Yalu River and in China's Yellow Sea. Due to the outdated equipment and insufficient training of the Qing army, their proud Beiyang Fleet and thirty-five battalions of land forces were routed and suffered heavy casualties from the beginning of the engagement. This is known in history as the "First Sino-Japanese War."
